At Town & Country Animal Clinic, we take care to provide our clients and their pets high-quality service and personal attention based on each pet's unique and individual needs.
Preventative Health Care
The importance of prevenative care cannot be overstated. Many ailments that affect your pet may not be noticed right away, and waiting until there is a problem will reduce the change of effective treatment. Because of this, when you bring your pet in to have an exam we will perform a full physical examination. Our doctor will assess heart, lungs, joint mobility, skin and coat condition. We will also discuss changes in your pet’s habits. We also ask that you bring a sample of your pet’s feces in with you to be examined for intestinal parasites at least once a year, and when diarrhea occurs.
If you have a senior pet (dogs over seven years old and cats over ten years old) we offer comprehensive blood panels that are specifically designed for older pets. Ask us about senior care when you make your appointment.
Onsite Laboratory
Our pets are adept at hiding illnesses and injuries they may have. Because of this, we use state of the art laboratory equipment with IDEXX to get an inside picture of what your pet isn’t showing on the outside. In our in-house laboratory, we perform tests on blood, urine and feces obtaining same day results. For tests that we don't run in house, we use a reference lab.
For our surgical patients, we perform on site blood work to check liver and kidney function before administering anesthesia. This can also be done prior to the surgical date with the reference lab.
General Surgery
The most common types of general surgery are spays and neuters but we also perform other surgeries including foreign body removal from the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines) and splenectomies.
We can also have a board certified surgeon that can come to do more specialized surgeries like orthopedic.
Geriatric Care
Senior pets (dogs over 7, cats over 10 years old) can need special, more frequent care to help them enjoy their golden years while remaining mobile and lucid. With age, older pets’ immune systems tend to decline, making them more susceptible to diseases, particularly chronic diseases such as cancer or arthritis. Because of their heightened vulnerability to potential disease, senior pets should receive more frequent wellness exams. A healthy senior should have at least two wellness examinations a year. For seniors with chronic conditions or other potential health concerns, more frequent visits may be recommended.
Pharmacy
We have an on site pharmacy to fill your pets medications. If we don’t have it on hand try our online pharmacy where it can get shipped right to your home.
Dental Cleanings
Just like people, good dental hygiene is important for pets, too! Talk to us about getting your pets' teeth cleaned and how that can affect their overall health & wellbeing.
Vaccinations
Whether they are young or old, vaccines play an important role in keeping your pet healthy and happy. Keeping current with the vaccine schedule for your cat or dog is an essential part of maintaining their healthy immune system and preventing contagious diseases.
Radiology
Town & Country is proud to offer digital radiography. This state of the art technology allows us to take and process x-ray images in house, in a matter of minutes. With improved speed and image quality, digital x-rays improve our ability to diagnose and treat critical patients quickly. It also allows us to forward images to specialists for second opinions, as needed.
Soft Tissue Surgery
We offer soft tissue surgery to remove any masses or cysts on the skin. This can help improve the pets life and mobility.
Grooming
We offer on-site grooming to help keep your pet fresh, clean, and feeling their best!
Is Your Pet Experiencing An Emergency?
How can you tell if your pet is having an emergency? Please consult our list below for our list of animal emergencies that should receive immediate veterinary consultation.
During our business hours of Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, please call ahead so that we may be prepared for your arrival. Outside of our business hours, we recommend the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic which can be reached at 701-478-9299.
1. Severe bleeding or bleeding that doesn’t stop within 5 minutes.
2. Choking, difficulty breathing, or nonstop coughing and gagging.
3. Bleeding from nose, mouth, rectum, coughing up blood, or blood in urine.
4. Inability to urinate or pass feces (stool), or obvious pain associated with urinating or passing stool.
5. Injuries to your pet’s eye(s).
6. You suspect or know your pet has eaten something poisonous (such as antifreeze, xylitol, chocolate, rodent poison, etc.).
7. Seizures and/or staggering.
8. Fractured bones, severe lameness, or inability to move leg(s).
9. Obvious signs of pain or extreme anxiety.
10. Heat stress or heatstroke.
11. Severe vomiting or diarrhea – more than 2 episodes in a 24-hour period, or either of these combined with obvious illness or any of the other problems listed here.
12. Refusal to drink for 24 hours or more.
13. Unconsciousness.
